Dear You,
It's the 21st December and where I live this is the shortest day of the year.
Or as I like to call it, "light the candle" day.
I find the power of a single, solitary candle almost overpowering in the pitch black (of afternoon!)... it reminds me that no amount of darkness can erase the light.
In fact, the darker it is, the more the light can be seen.
So today I wish you a happy “light the candle” day, and I'm inviting you into my moment making tradition of finding the darkest place you can, and lighting a candle.

When your eyes recover sufficiently from the flare of first-caught-light, and are able to pick up the nuances of that flame… notice it doesn't matter what the candle looks like. It doesn’t matter how tall the candle is, the colour of wax, if it is decorated or not...
it’s the light you see. It’s the light that attracts you in its shivering, fierce, vulnerable state…
YOU are that light.
The darker the world, the more your cellular sunshine will be seen, and the more keenly it will be appreciated.
Your power shines from you.
I know, because I happen to have one particular gift I’ve been dodging for decades.
I can sense-feel your light.
(any other context and that would be well “6th Sense” creepy…)
There is no word I am yet comfortable with to describe this, but I feel it like I feel the sun on my face, the wind in my hair, the movement of sand under my wriggling toes.
It’s a beautiful thing… and while I know why I shut this down for so many years, my heart breaks for past me who didn’t have the chance to feel warmed by the glimmer that is YOU. The glimmer of Humanity Beings.
Always know the indelible mark you have shone into the lives of others - including mine.
Even if you don’t feel your radiant self, I DO.
And
you
are
fabulous.
Big love, wonderful one,
"The darker it is, the more light can be seen" Love this thank you Sally. My 13-year-old and I went round the house yesterday afternoon and lit every candle we could find. Special moments indeed x
Big love right back, wonderful Sally x
